TITLE: LEH LADAKH HOLIDAY – CLASSIC
DURATION: 05 NIGHTS AND 06 DAYS
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LEH
Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel in Leh. Check into the hotel and relax. This day is kept free so that you acclimatize. Later we will visit Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa. The 18th century Leh Palace overlooks Leh town and is modeled on the Potala Palace in Lhasa Tibet. Shanti Stupa a Japanese peace pagoda offers wonderful views around sunset. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
You may be enthusiastic about reaching a high altitude of four thousand meters from two hundred meters in just one hour and want to explore everything on your first day. However, it is your body that must become accustomed to such heights and temperatures. We strongly recommend that you relax on the first day for body acclimation.
DAY 2: LEH – EXCITING EXCURSION FULL DAY
After breakfast, Set out for an amazing day, visit the confluence of the Zanskar and Indus Rivers in Nimo, We will continue the drive to Lamayuru which is 120 kms from Leh and most-of the stretch is over the beautiful Leh Kargil highway. Visit monastery and moon land three kms before Lamayuru. It is called moon land because the mountains are textured in such a manner that they would resemble craters on moon. On the way to Lamayuru, we will stop at Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Hall of Fame, Magnetic hill, etc. Return to Leh for overnight stay.
DAY 3: LEH TO NUBRA VALLEY VIA KHARDUNGLA PASS (135KM / 5 HOURS APPROX)
After breakfast, check out and drive to Nubra Valley (Hunder) via the World’s highest Motorable road (5602 Mts) Khardung la Pass (18,380ft above sea level): Khardungla Pass, also known as the ‘Pass of Lower Castle,’ is located on the way to Nubra valley from Leh. It is the world’s highest motorable road, according to signage posted by BRO. Arrive in Nubra Valley (Hunder), check into a tent/ cottage, and relax. Later visit Hunder’s White Sand Dunes. You can also take a camel ride here Return to camp. Spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the campsite/ Cottage.
DAY 4: NUBRA VALLEY (HUNDER) TO PANGONG VIA SHAYOK
After Breakfast, check out and visit Diskit Monastery, known as Deskit Gompa or Diskit Gompa and it is the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra Valley. Continue to Pangong via Shayok. The Shayok River originates from the Rimo Glacier. You will never see water as clear as in the Shayok River. When the sun shines down on it, it is coated in crystals. On arrival in Pangong, check into your camp/cottage. The rest of the time to explore Pangong Lake and spend some quality time around the Lake. Dinner and overnight stay at the Camp/Cottage.
DAY 5: PANGONG TO LEH VIA CHANGLA PASS (APPROX. 155 KMS ONE WAY)
Early morning visit the lake to see the sun rise before continuing to Leh via Changla Pass (17,350 feet), the world’s second highest motorable road. Do not stay at the summit for more than 20-25 minutes because the high altitude might be harmful. On the way to Leh, visit Hemis Monastery: which is a Himalayan Buddhist Monastery (Gompa) of the Drukpa Lineage in Hemis, Ladakh, Sengge Namgyal, King of Ladakh, re-established the monastery in 1672. If time allows, visit Sindhu Ghat – the riverbank of Indus River in Ladakh. In the evening walk around Local Market. Overnight at Leh.
DAY 6: LEH DEPARTURE
At pre-arranged time, transfer to airport to board flight to onward destination.
